The Products we offer

SWMS LM Series, Low-Grade Mineral Spiral

The LM spiral is usually supplied in duplex configuration (LM5/2). The spiral helix is constructed from GRP with a polyurethane wear surface. The latest reverse lamination technology is used in the manufacturing process. Each LM5 spiral trough has 5 turns beginning at the feed box and ending at the product box. A heavy duty cast polyurethane feed box is fitted to the trough by means of a bolted flange. The box is back fed with a tangential outlet to ensure maximum use of the spiral separating surface. A heavy duty cast polyurethane product boot is attached to the spiral trough by means of a bolted flange. Two adjustable cutters are located in the boot to divide the stream into Concentrate (heavies), Middlings and Tailing (lights) fractions.

The LM spiral is primarily designed to treat pulp streams with a heavy mineral content in the range up to 50% by weight. It comprises a backfed feed box, single section of helix and a product boot. All splitters are located in the product boot to divide the stream into concentrate, middlings and tailings. This multi-purpose spiral is extremely tolerant of changing feed conditions so few operational adjustments are necessary making it an ideal unit for rougher, scavenger and retreat duties.

Applications: Gold, Tin, Tungsten, Mineral Sands, Chromite, Glass Sand, Platinum, Metallics and Slag, Sulphides, Soil Cleaning.

SWMS MM Series, medium-grade mineral spiral.

The MM spiral is usually supplied in duplex configuration (MM5/2). The spiral helix is constructed from GRP with a polyurethane wear surface. The latest reverse lamination technology is used in the manufacturing process. Each MM5 spiral trough has 5 turns beginning at the feed box and ending at the product boot. There are 3 helix cutters on the lower 3 turns.

A heavy duty cast polyurethane feed box is fitted to the trough by means of a bolted flange. The box is back fed with a tangential outlet to ensure maximum use of the spiral separating surface. A heavy duty cast polyurethane boot is attached to the spiral trough by means of a bolted flange. Two adjustable product cutters are located in the boot to divide the stream into Concentrate (heavies), Middlings and Tailing (lights) fractions. The MM series spiral concentrator is primarily designed to treat pulp streams with a medium heavy mineral content in the range 15-80% by weight. It comprises a backfed feed box, single section of helix and a product boot. A combination of finger cutters on the helix divert separated heavy minerals into an open, inner channel which is part of the trough moulding and terminates in the concentrate area of the product box. Splitters located in the product boot divide the stream into concentrate, middlings and tailings. The MM spiral requires little attention during operation and is fequently used to further upgrade concentrates produced on LM series spirals.

Applications: Gold, Tin, Tungsten, Mineral Sands, Chromite, Platinum, Metallics and Slag, Sulphides, Iron Ore, Barytes and Recyling.

SWMS Spiral Feed Distributor

A spiral module is supplied with the appropriate top or bottom fed static feed distributor to enable each spiral start to be fed evenly. The distributor is constructed from polyurethane lined GRP and utilises a primary feed well with an adjustable annular discharge to control the volumetric flow to the main tank. The feed is allowed to drain from the feed well to the main tank of the distributor where a head builds up over the outlets. Each outlet is vented to atmosphere to null any siphon effects. The discharge from the outlets is controlled by venturi type orifice liners which enables fine-tuning of the feed distribution system.

Typically, a 25mm orifice liner requires 150mm of static head in the main tank to give a flow rate to each trough of approximately 4m3/hr. This combination of balanced steady head feed well and controlled discharge distribution tank results in a very precise division of flow.

Each outlet from the distributor is connected to one spiral start by 50mm OD polyethylene pipe using moulded polyurethane fittings. The piping system is supplied pre-cut and match marked for easy assembly.

SWMS GPX Series Coal Spiral

The GPX spiral is usually supplied in duplex configuration. (GPX/2) Each GPX spiral trough has 3.25 turns beginning at the feed box and ending at the product boot. The spiral helix is constructed from GRP with a polyurethane wear surface. The latest reverse lamination technology is used in the manufacturing process. A heavy-duty cast polyurethane feed box is fitted to the trough by means of a bolted flange. The box is back fed with a tangential outlet to ensure maximum use of the separating surface. A heavy-duty cast polyurethane boot is attached to the spiral trough by means of a bolted flange. Two product cutters are located in the boot to divide the stream into Lights (Coal), Middlings and Heavies (Refuse) fractions.

This spiral is designed to produce a low ash coal product at high organic efficiency while rejecting a high ash refuse stream. The GPX model is the second generation of the very successful CUGP Series spiral. The GPX design has been optimised for better refuse removal and higher capacity.

Applications: Recovery of coal values from: raw coal slurry, water-only rejects, flotation tailings, pretreatment of low quality feeds, reprocessing existing lagoons, pyritic sulphur removal, sand delignification, soil cleaning and recycling.
